Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services seeks CPS Local Perm Specialist I-IV in Texas City. The role focuses on permanency planning, court involvement, and coordination of services for children outside their home region.

You will engage with families, document case progress, and collaborate with other regions to ensure child safety and well-being. The position requires handling various casework tasks, attending hearings, and maintaining CPS certifications.

Qualifications

• Current or former DFPS employees with at least two years of full-time experience in Child Protective Services or child placement services in a public social services agency.
• CPS Specialist I–IV: progression requires specific education/experience milestones.

Responsibilities

• Visit the child and caregiver within 15 days of assignment.
• Record face-to-face contacts in IMPACT within specified timelines.
• Participate in and document Treatment Plan Reviews, ARD meetings, and court proceedings.
• Notify primary caseworker of placement changes.
• Attend court hearings (regional, Juvenile detention, child support, citizenship).
• Assist with coordination of parent-child or sibling visitation and placement transitions.
• Complete abuse hotline referrals and ensure documentation is filed.
