Job summary

Insperity is seeking a newly created, hands-on Senior Accountant for a rapidly growing nonprofit in a small entrepreneurial team. You will handle general accounting, monthly reporting, and process improvements to strengthen financial operations.

Responsibilities include supervising accounting activities, evolving the reporting process, overseeing year-end work, managing vendor relationships, and supporting audits and budgeting in collaboration with executives and the board.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience (public accounting with nonprofit clients strongly preferred).
  • At least 2 years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of reporting requirements for 501(c)(3) organizations.
  • CPA certification or CPA in progress is a plus.
  • Proficiency with financial systems (QuickBooks Online, Insperity Premier, Bill.com, Ramp) and related integrations.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Hands-on, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves attitude.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly detail‑oriented and organized.
  • Ability to work in a high‑energy, dynamic working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day‑to‑day accounting, including bank reconciliations, credit‑card reconciliations, weekly wires, check writing, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank deposits.
  • Supervise the team in day‑to‑day accounting and reporting support functions.
  • Perform and evolve the financial reporting process.
  • Evaluate new systems to increase productivity and reporting efficiency.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all financial‑related inquiries; research in real time and respond efficiently.
  • Set up new employees and independent contractors within the system.
  • Manage year‑end reporting and related processes.
  • Create or enhance accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support the financial audit and liaise with the outside CPA for tax return filing.
  • Manage all vendor relationships and perform vendor analysis to determine the ideal partners for various business areas, including terms.
  • Evaluate and implement new software solutions to create greater efficiencies across the entire business.
  • Lead contract negotiations, review, and execution of terms.
  • Support the annual creation and revision of budget processes and enforce accountability to department heads to adhere to budgets.
  • Revise the current procure‑to‑pay process.
  • Create cash‑flow projections and ensure reserve levels are met in all accounts to meet business needs.
  • Collaborate with the executive team, board of directors, and consultants on the delivery of reports.
