Job summary

The State of Maine Judicial Branch is seeking a Corporal to supervise Deputy Judicial Marshals and coordinate security for courts across multiple sites. The role requires leadership, vigilance, and the ability to respond to high-stress situations to protect judges, staff, jurors, and the public.

Starting pay ranges per hour with comprehensive benefits and retirement options. Must have a high school diploma or GED and relevant law enforcement background, plus required certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years as Deputy Judicial Marshal or similar.
• Background checks and certifications required.
• Must maintain firearms and CPR certifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Deputy Judicial Marshals in the Sergeant's absence.
• Plan, assign and review work; manage security for court days.
• Schedule Deputy Marshals across locations as needed.
• Perform duties as described for Deputy Judicial Marshals.
• Assist in court with paperwork flow and evidence handling.
• Maintain security presence in public court areas.
• Direct visitors and provide information on court schedules.
• Oversee equipment and incident reporting.
