A law enforcement agency in Kane County seeks a Court Security Officer to ensure safety in various court facilities. This role involves security duties across multiple locations, requiring physical fitness and adherence to security protocols. Training will be provided, and bilingual candidates may receive additional pay.
General Summary : The Court Security Officer is a sworn position appointed by the Sheriff of Kane County and is primarily responsible for attending to the courts on behalf of the Sheriff, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for the Judges and facilities of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit System in Kane County. The Court Security Officer may be assigned to any of the following courts: Judicial Center in St. Charles, Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles, Kane County branch court of St. Charles, Geneva Courthouse in Geneva, the Appellate Court in Elgin, and the Aurora branch court in Aurora.
The Court Security Officer will work one of three shifts: 6:30 am to 2:30 pm, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, or 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, which may include weekends and holidays. Responsibilities include screening at main entrances, operating building control rooms, maintaining order and security in courtrooms and other areas, conducting security sweeps and searches, taking individuals into custody, and staying current with policies and procedures related to security and court decorum. Training will be provided.
The role requires meeting certain physical demands: walking, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling objects and controls, reaching, pushing, pulling, talking, and hearing. The ability to stand for extended periods is also necessary.
Requirements : High School diploma or GED; Valid Illinois driver's license; Valid F.O.I.D card; Must be at least 21 years old; U.S. citizen; Basic computer skills; Successful completion of medical and psychological examinations. Employees may be assigned additional duties, which are subject to change.
