Job summary

The State of West Virginia seeks a Harrison County Administrator to lead all administrative and field operations, including budgets, maintenance plans, and emergency program coordination. The role requires directing staff and serving as liaison at County Commission and City Council meetings.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity. Travel and valid driver's license may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; substitutions possible via experience per established formula.
• Four (4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in highway construction or maintenance, traffic control and sign maintenance, business or public administration, transportation, construction, manufacturing, mining, or the armed forces; two (2) years in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities

• Direct office staff, manage county budgets and annual maintenance plans.
• Monitor field operations, coordinate emergency and seasonal programs including snow/ice control, FEMA logistics, and environmental inspections.
• Review timesheets, overtime, and administrative forms (e.g., OM-41, OE-28, DOH-56).
• Serve as departmental liaison at County Commission and City Council meetings.

Education

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
