Job summary

The State of West Virginia, Department of Highways is seeking a Harrison County Administrator to lead and oversee all administrative and field operations within the county. You will direct office staff, manage county budgets and annual maintenance plans, and coordinate emergency and seasonal programs including snow/ice control, FEMA logistics, and environmental inspections.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, four years of related experience with supervisory duties, and a valid

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Experience in highway construction or maintenance, traffic control and sign maintenance, business or public administration, transportation, construction, manufacturing, mining, or the armed forces; two years supervisory experience.
Travel may be required; valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee all administrative and field operations within the county.
Direct office staff, manage county budgets and annual maintenance plans.
Monitor field operations and coordinate key emergency and seasonal programs (snow/ice control, FEMA logistics, environmental inspections).
Address public inquiries, review timesheets, overtime and administrative forms (OM-41, OE-28, DOH-56).
Manage equipment and inventory; support employee professional development (CDL progress and appraisals).
Serve as a departmental liaison at County Commission and City Council meetings.
