Job summary

Northeastern Supply in Lorton, VA is seeking an experienced Counter Sales Associate to drive sales and assist walk-in and phone customers with product selection and order fulfillment. This role relies on product knowledge to meet customer needs and build lasting relationships.

You will pull, pack, and track orders, maintain inventory, greet customers professionally, upsell where appropriate, and follow pricing and credit guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Product, applications, or wholesale distribution experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and stand for up to 8 hours daily.
• Able to stoop, bend, and reach inventory; work in indoor and outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Pull, fill, pack, and set up orders for delivery or pickup; track order status at all times.
• Receive shipments, log into inventory, conduct audits, and process returns accurately.
• Assist counter and phone customers with orders, product info, pricing, and availability.
• Greet all customers professionally; resolve issues promptly or elevate as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized counter and product display area.
• Upsell complementary products and convert requests to stocked brands where appropriate.
• Maintain deep product and industry knowledge; follow company pricing and credit guidelines.
• Assess customer needs to determine appropriate service level or escalation path.
• Build customer relationships; adapt approach to different customer types and needs.
• Collaborate with team, share best practices, and support a positive work environment.
• Follow all company procedures, policies, and Employee Handbook requirements.
• Other duties as assigned
