Ferguson is seeking a knowledgeable, results-driven Counter Sales Associate to join our team in Quincy, MA. This role goes beyond transactions—be a trusted advisor to plumbing and HVAC contractors, using product expertise to help customers make informed purchasing decisions aligned with our sales strategy.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm. Engage customers at the counter, on the phone, and via email; upsell, cross-sell, and promote strategic products; process transactions accurately;

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of experience in customer service or sales; plumbing/HVAC or related industry preferred.
• Sales mindset with ability to meet goals, build relationships, and influence purchasing decisions.
• Strong communication skills for consultative selling and customer engagement.
• Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Digital literacy and ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers at the counter, on the phone, and via email to understand needs and recommend solutions.
• Serve as a product expert in plumbing, HVAC and related products to guide customer decisions.
• Drive sales growth by upselling, cross-selling, and promoting strategic products.
• Use catalogs and computer systems to locate parts and provide accurate information.
• Process transactions accurately while ensuring a positive customer experience.
• Collaborate with Outside Sales Associates to support account growth and service.
• Manage special orders and monitor order status, back-orders and delivery timelines.
• Maintain a professional, organized counter environment reflecting quality and service.
• Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and stock organization.
• Adhere to safety regulations, including PPE usage.
