Job summary

Van Meter Inc. is seeking a Counter Sales Representative at our Carroll, IA location to efficiently pick orders, assist counter customers, and deliver outstanding service.

You will work independently to ensure accurate order preparation, while collaborating with inside sales and distribution teams to enhance customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED with preferable two years of related education, and some sales experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of a two year degree preferred.
• Previous sales experience preferred.
• Electrical product knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to lift 70 lbs required; lift 100 lbs at times.
• Ability to use fork lift equipment required.
• Demonstrated computer skills.
• Ability to work with Excel documents.
• Knowledge of Eclipse and RF Scan is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service business and walk-in customers with product information and project guidance.
• Pick and prepare customer pipe and wire accurately.
• Picks customer orders using RF gun, motorized cart and/or forklift.
• Build and maintain customer relationships.
• Provide project demonstrations to qualified customers.
• Maintain counter area, displays and stock levels.
• Estimate delivery dates based on vendor schedules.
• Quote prices and credit terms, prepare sales orders.
• Encourage creativity and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with inside sales and distribution teams to ensure service.
• Drive for continuous improvement.
• Promote Van Meter culture and 5 P's.
