Job summary

Behavioral Health Network (BHN) in Massachusetts is seeking a Counselor to join our MAT/OTP team. You will perform initial assessments, develop treatment plans, involve families, and document in accordance with policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (social work, psychology, human services, etc.).
  • Two years of related experience in mental health/substance abuse settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations to determine service eligibility.
  • Facilitate and review individualized treatment plans with each person served.
  • Involve families and residential providers in the recovery process when possible.
  • Respond to grievances and develop aftercare and discharge plans.
  • Provide risk/crisis evaluations and ensure safety.
  • Maintain accurate documentation per agency policy and regulations.

What You Will Do:
  • Conduct individual initial assessments and bio-psychosocial evaluations to determine service eligibility.
  • Facilitate, establish, and review individualized treatment plans with each person served.
  • Involve families, significant others, and residential providers in the recovery process whenever possible.
  • Respond to individual grievances and complaints, and develop aftercare and discharge plans.
  • Provide comprehensive risk/crisis evaluations and take appropriate action to ensure safety.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with agency policy and applicable regulations.
Who You Are:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (social work, psychology, human services, etc.).
  • LADC, CADAC, or CAS credential preferred.
  • Two years of related experience in mental health/substance abuse settings, including at least one year of substance abuse experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Strong understanding of substance use disorders, treatment techniques, and community resources.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and ability to work with diverse populations.
