Job summary

Abraxas Youth and Family Services is seeking a Counselor I at Woodridge Interventions to provide chemical dependency counseling to patients and families. The role involves assessments, treatment plan design, and delivering group and individual sessions within a supportive team.

Ideal candidates will have IAODAPCA CADC or higher credentials, strong communication, and the ability to manage challenging situations.

Qualifications

• IAODAPCA certification CADC, or above. LSW, LCSW, LPC, or LCPC.
• Ability to promote positive behavior and manage resistant behavior.
• Physical ability to safely and effectively manage aggressive behavior.
• Assertiveness, confidence and leadership abilities.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Effective time management skills.
• At least twenty-one (21) years of age
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Physical exam that includes TB and drug testing.
• Satisfactory background checks as required by law.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software.

Responsibilities

• Provide chemical dependency counseling services to patients and families through assessment and design, implementation, and revision of treatment plan.
• Provide group and individual counseling, community support, case coordination and crisis intervention services.
• Complete assessment of each client.
• Initiate and sustain each individual’s motivation to participate in treatment.
• Develop a comprehensive service plan for each client.
• Provide daily treatment and curriculum-based education groups.
