Job summary

ViiV Healthcare, part of the GSK group, seeks a Counsel, R&D and Global Medical based in Durham, NC. The role provides practical legal support across R&D, medical affairs, privacy, contracting and governance for a global portfolio in a highly regulated environment.

The successful candidate will draft and negotiate a range of agreements, advise on risk and compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable timely, compliant decision-making within a matrixed organization.

Qualifications

• US bar licensed and able to practice law in the United States.
• 3+ years of relevant private practice or in-house legal experience in life sciences, pharma, healthcare, or related fields.
• Experience advising on contracting, privacy, data governance, clinical studies, medical affairs, collaborations, and publications.
• Knowledge of intellectual property issues in research collaborations and clinical studies; ability to work with IP counsel.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and review R&D and Global Medical agreements (clinical study, investigator-sponsored research, data-sharing, advisory, service, external engagement).
• Coordinate with Global IP, Privacy, Regulatory and Compliance teams to provide aligned legal advice.
• Identify and communicate legal and business risks, advise on governance and escalation options.
• Support governance on clinical studies, real-world evidence, data use, and external collaborations.
• Review pending legislation, regulations and guidance impacting R&D and Global Medical activities.
