Job summary

Palmdale Regional Medical Center is seeking an Occupational Therapy Assistant to support the patient care plan under the supervision of an occupational therapist in an acute care setting in Palmdale, CA.

The ideal candidate will have 1 year of OTA experience, be licensed in California, and hold BLS certification, with strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• One year experience as an occupational therapy assistant in an acute care facility preferred.
• Completion of A.A. degree from a school approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
• Current California license as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• BLS (AHA) current certification.
• Written and verbal communications, interpersonal skills.
• Basic organizational and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately implements the patient plan of care designed by the occupational therapist or components thereof in a setting appropriate to the patient’s disability, age and psychosocial needs.
• Applies therapeutic principles; uses appropriate knowledge and clinical judgment in observing patient’s reaction to appropriate treatments.
• Develops innovative home programs individualized to meet the needs of the patient/family and instructs the patient and family in these programs.
