Job summary

Withum is seeking a Cost Segregation Senior Associate to join our Forensic & Valuation Services team. The role is based in our U.S. offices with a hybrid schedule requiring 3 days in the office per week.

You will perform cost segregation studies, review depreciation schedules and construction documents, and prepare engineering-based reports that meet IRS guidelines. The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in cost segregation or related fields and possesses strong Excel and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA/EA/CCSP/PE preferred but not required.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with proficiency in financial analysis and modeling.
• Experience in cost segregation, fixed asset consulting, or real estate tax is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost segregation studies for various property types (new, existing, renovated, constructed).
• Review construction cost documentation, depreciation schedules, appraisals, blueprints, engineering reports, and fixed asset records.
• Conduct property site visits and document building systems and asset classifications.
• Prepare detailed engineering-based cost segregation reports and supporting documentation meeting IRS guidelines.
• Research and interpret federal tax regulations related to depreciation and tangible property rules.
• Identify fixed asset planning opportunities and provide tax-saving recommendations to clients.
• Manage multiple engagements and coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and internal professionals.
• Review work by Associates and provide coaching and technical guidance.
• Assist Managers and Partners with client relationship management, proposals, and business development.
• Stay current on technical developments and their impact on clients’ tax positions.
• Participate in training initiatives and contribute to practice growth.
