Job summary

Nicor Gas is seeking a Corrosion Apprentice/Technician to learn and perform cathodic protection troubleshooting, maintenance of rectifiers, and remediation work orders as part of the corrosion control program. The role supports engineering and construction projects with timely data entry and regulatory compliance.

Progression through Apprentice to Technician levels is defined, with required education and certifications, and standard MS Office and analytical skills expected.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent required (technical/trade or math/engineering focus).
• High school diploma with equivalent education/experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Learn and perform basic cathodic protection troubleshooting.
• Create remediation work orders and coordinate with other departments for timely completion.
• Troubleshoot and maintain rectifiers; manage half-cell maintenance per procedures.
• Monitor corrosion control records for compliance and generate reports.
• Support engineering/construction projects with CP needs and regulatory audits.
