Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is hiring for a supervisory correctional role within an adult facility. You will supervise officers, oversee shift operations, and ensure safety and order while promoting offender rehabilitation.

Minimum qualifications include 3+ years in offender custody and at least 1 year as a sergeant or senior probation/parole assistant, with a high school diploma or GED. A state retirement and benefits package is included.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in the custody of adult offenders in a city, county, state, or federal facility.
• One year must have been as a Correctional Sergeant or Senior Probation and Parole Assistant with the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• Military service may be substituted for up to one year of the custody experience

Responsibilities

• Supervises and instructs lower-level Correctional Officers; develops expectations and monitors performance.
• Directs a major activity such as control center operation or reception/orientation process.
• Patrols living quarters/grounds/buildings to observe offender behaviors and the effectiveness of Correctional Officers.
• Investigates offender disturbances and complaints; directs discipline and rehabilitation efforts.
• Assists in conducting training sessions for staff and performs related work as assigned.
• A physical examination by a physician may be required before or at time of appointment
