Job summary

The State of Michigan, Department of Corrections, is seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee custody and housing officers and ensure smooth shift operations. You will supervise staff, disseminate information, and support the shift leadership in maintaining safety and order across assigned areas.

Qualifications

• Completion of 15 college credits in any field.
• Two years of experience as a Corrections Officer or Corrections Medical Officer, including one year at E9 level; or one year as Special Alternative Incarceration Officer 9.
• Positions require drug and alcohol testing; felonies may disqualify applicants.

Responsibilities

• Direct and instruct custody and housing officers on duties and responsibilities.
• Supervise officers in assigned areas and ensure shift readiness.
• Disseminate information to line staff and relay pertinent updates to supervisory staff.
• Assist in the orderly operation of the shift and apply supervisory skills.
