Job summary

The Michigan Department of Corrections seeks a Shift Supervisor to oversee a designated shift and, when needed, act as Shift Commander to ensure the safe and secure operation of the facility. Education required includes completion of 15 semester credits in any field.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience equivalent to a Corrections Officer E9, Corrections Medical Aide E9, or Special Alternative Incarceration Officer 9.
• Two years equivalent to a Resident Unit Officer E10, Corrections Transportation Officer E10, Corrections Medical Unit Officer E10, or Special Alternative Incarceration Officer E10.
• One year equivalent to a Corrections Shift Supervisor 11 or Assistant Resident Unit Supervisor 11.

Responsibilities

• This position serves as the second line supervisor and, at times, functions as the Shift Commander of an assigned shift.
• At times, this position may be the highest ranking official on duty at the facility and will be responsible for the safe and secure operation of the facility.
