Job summary

The Michigan Department of Corrections seeks a Shift Supervisor. This position serves as the second line supervisor and, at times, functions as the Shift Commander of an assigned shift, and may be the highest ranking official on duty to ensure the safe and secure operation of the facility.

Education requires completion of 15 semester credits in any field. Experience includes three years in roles equivalent to Corrections Officer E9 or related positions; two years at E10 or one year at E11

Qualifications

• Completion of 15 semester credits in any field.
• Three years of experience equivalent to a Corrections Officer E9, Corrections Medical Aide E9, or Special Alternative Incarceration Officer 9.
• Two years equivalent to a Resident Unit Officer E10, Corrections Transportation Officer E10, Corrections Medical Unit Officer E10, or Special Alternative Incarceration Officer E10; or one year equivalent to a Corrections Shift Supervisor 11.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the second line supervisor and, at times, functions as the Shift Commander of an assigned shift.
• May be the highest ranking official on duty at the facility and will be responsible for the safe and secure operation of the facility.
