Job summary

The Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking an assistant/relief shift supervisor to oversee operations in an adult facility or related centers. You will supervise correctional staff, manage post assignments, and support offender rehabilitation while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of custody experience in adult facilities, including one year as a Correctional Sergeant or Senior Probation and Parole Assistant.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Military service may substitute for up to one year of custody experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and instructs lower-level Correctional Officers and monitors performance and work habits.
• Directs major activities such as control center operation or reception/orientation.
• Patrols living quarters, grounds and buildings to observe offender behavior and ensure staff on duty.
• Investigates offender disturbances and promotes rehabilitation by guiding behavior changes.
• Assists in conducting training sessions for staff and ensures compliance with rules and regulations.
• A valid vehicle operator's license may be required by assignment.
