Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) seeks a qualified correctional counselor for the Otero County Prison Facility in Chaparral, NM. You will conduct assessments, design treatment plans, and provide group and individual therapy to sex offenders under program directives.

The role requires a Master’s degree in counseling and NM licensure (LMHC/LMSW/LAMFT) with a valid driver's license. This full-time position offers comprehensive benefits and a path to professional impact within a correctional

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling or related field.
• Licensure as LMHC, LMSW, or LAMFT in NM is required (active or temporary).
• License-eligible and new graduates may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing assessments using approved tools to define treatment goals for inmates.
• Design treatment plans based on individual needs, risk factors and assessments.
• Conduct group and individual counseling aligned with treatment goals.
• Explain rationale for interventions and key decisions throughout treatment.
• Evaluate progress monthly and complete progress reports.
• Provide recommendations for successful program completion.
• Develop post-treatment plans to aid release and reintegration.
• Prepare Treatment Summaries prior to inmate release.
• Promote positive social skills and model appropriate behaviors.
• Maintain staff and inmate accountability and safety.

Education

Master’s degree in counseling or related field

NM LMHC / LMSW / LAMFT licensure (active or temporary)
