Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) at the Otero County Prison Facility’s Medical Unit in Chaparral, New Mexico, seeks a physician to provide medical services to inmate patients and to respond to emergencies within a secure facility.

You will render medical judgments, perform histories and exams, prescribe medications, and ensure HIPAA-compliant medical records while coordinating care and supporting accreditation efforts.

Qualifications

• Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (or eligibility).
• Valid NM license or compact state license.
• Active DEA license and BLS.
• Current driver’s license in NM or TX.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical services for inmate patients and emergencies.
• Render medical judgments per MTC policies and directives.
• Perform histories, exams, tests, prescribe medications, and treat accordingly.
• Share after-hours and weekend coverage as needed.
• Refer patients to specialists via approved processes.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant medical records and confidentiality.
• Participate in accreditation efforts (NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO) as applicable.
• Respond to accidents, emergencies and disasters with basic EMS steps.
