Management & Training Corporation (MTC) in Chaparral, NM, seeks a detail-oriented Intake Clerk to support the prison intake operations. The role performs clerical and administrative duties in accordance with MTC and customer directives, typing reports, proofreading, and maintaining records.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, along with word processing or data entry experience. A valid NM or TX driver's license is required, with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license in NM or TX with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Types reports.
• Proofread material to verify accuracy.
• Maintain appropriate office supplies.

• Operate office equipment such as copy machines, desk top computers and printers.
• Operate center telephone communications and mail handling as assigned.
• Promote positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when needed.
• Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) operates the Otero County Prison in Chaparral, New Mexico. We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping those in our custody prepare for success upon release.

Position Summary

Reports to the intake sergeant. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in compliance with MTC and customer directives.

Essential Functions

• Types reports.


• Proofread material to verify accuracy.


• Maintain appropriate office supplies.


• Assist the inmate sergeant with inmate records; maintain documentation and records.


• Operate office equipment such as copy machines, desk top computers and printers.


• Operate center telephone communications and mail handling as assigned.


• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.


• Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.

Education And Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year word processing or computer data entry experience preferred. Valid driver's license in the state of New Mexico or the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
