Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) seeks a Physician Assistant or PMHNP to manage and deliver psychiatric care at the Otero County Processing Facility’s Medical Unit in Chaparral, NM. You will lead mental health services for inmates, including evaluations, treatment planning, and crisis intervention within a high-security environment.

The role requires active licensure, BLS, and 2–5 years in correctional or psychiatric settings.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited physician’s assistant program and a current license or completion of an accredited PMHNP program and a current license and certification as an PMHNP is required.
• Current DEA registration unless state practice regulations permit other prescribing arrangements under supervision also required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must remain current.
• Two to five years’ experience is recommended, preferably in the correctional or psychiatric setting.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement professional mental health service programs including psychiatric services for residents of the facility.
• Provide mental health services to inmates in compliance with MTC Medical and customer directives.
• Provide coordinated mental health services to the inmate population, overseeing all aspects of mental health and behavioral treatment while ensuring safety.
• Diagnose mental health conditions, prescribe appropriate medications, and develop treatment plans based on evaluations.
• Perform mental health assessments including suicide prevention and crisis intervention, maintaining security.
• Develop therapeutic programs addressing inmates' mental health needs in a high-security environment.
• Maintain and audit inmate mental health records, ensuring confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Maintain accountability of inmates and property, and ensure safety in all clinical interactions.
