Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Supervisory Officer in the Department of Corrections in Sumter. You will oversee inmate safety, enforce rules, supervise staff, and ensure sanitation and security across facilities and grounds.

Responsibilities include roll calls, supervising counts, issuing staff assignments, assisting in investigations, and completing basic supervisory training within six months of hire. A high school diploma and relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and relevant experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree may substitute for half of the required experience.
• Certification by the SCDC Training Academy is required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts roll call and monitors officers on duty.
• Instructs and explains rules, regulations and procedures.
• Assists in non-routine problems.
• Makes sanitation, safety and security inspections of buildings, grounds and vehicles.
• Assigns duties to officers to ensure cleaning and supervision of inmates.
• Supervises counts and assists in investigations as needed.
