Job summary

The GEO Group in Florida is seeking a detention supervisor to monitor detainees, coordinate movements and ensure safety in program activities. You will also conduct searches for contraband and maintain daily logs while supporting emergency response needs in a secure setting.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, security-related training, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work long shifts with resilience and accountability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences or security services preferred.
• Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity preferred.
• Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with long hours.
• Must report to work on time and be reliably punctual.
• Ability to be physically alert on any assigned shift.
• Work experience in a security environment is preferred.
• Must be mature, flexible and able to earn respect from detainees and staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor detainees in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas.
• Coordinate movement (conduct counts and provide emergency response as needed).
• Make sure program activities stay safe and supervise labor crews.
• Conduct shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items per policies.
• Keep daily logs on detainees, including disciplinary reports.
• Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to detainees who are injured or ill.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to keep the facility clean.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent certification

College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, security services or related field

Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity

Possession of applicable state requisites for employment
