Job summary
A Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse with the Linn County Sheriff's Office provides nursing care within the Linn County Jail, following Oregon Board of Nursing standards. The role includes intake reviews, medical history gathering, and coordination with physicians and hospitals, plus administering medications and responding to emergencies.
Qualifications include graduation from an accredited nursing program and an active Oregon LPN license; corrections experience is preferred.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of modern policies, procedures, and techniques for the care and treatment of AIC.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in emergency and stressful situations.
- Knowledge of nursing principles and procedures for preventive health in a jail.
Responsibilities
- Review intake screening and assist in physical assessments.
- Observe AIC health and gather medical history.
- Coordinate health care with providers and facilities.
- Provide nursing care to AIC with substance addictions; call in prescriptions.
- Perform sick calls and collect specimens for testing.
- Educate and promote well-being through counseling and programs.
- Supervise AIC during duties when needed.
- Maintain professional relationships with staff and agencies.
