Job summary

The State of South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a dedicated food service supervisor to lead inmate cafeteria operations in Columbia. You will supervise cooks, bakers and dining staff, ensure meals meet standards, and maintain records and safety compliance.

You will train staff, coordinate with inmate committees, prepare work sheets, and oversee inspections. This role emphasizes security, quality, timely meal delivery, and adherence to the SCDC training and certification

Qualifications

Minimum related food service experience.
Experience in quantity and quality cooking is required.
ServSafe Manager certification within six months of employment.
Certification by SCDC training academy or completion of SCDC basic training upon hire.
Basic supervisory courses within eighteen months of employment.

Responsibilities

Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
Trains and instructs all employees in duties and supervises daily tasks.
Acts to maintain internal security of cafeteria and works with inmate committee to resolve problems.
Responsible for accurate preparation of all weekly food orders and deliveries.
Prepares cook's work sheet per SCDC master menu and maintains 5-year records.
Meets health, fire and OSHA inspections.
Ensures maintenance/repair work on cafeteria equipment.
