Job summary

Denton County seeks a Corrections Facility Technician I to perform semi-skilled to skilled maintenance at the Sheriff's Department, Detention Center, and jail facilities, covering mechanical, electrical, and security systems.

You will handle carpentry, plumbing, painting and HVAC tasks, supervise inmate trustees on projects, and support preventive maintenance programs while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or equivalent required.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must attain Texas jailer certification within one year of employment.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and obtain Texas license within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment in jail facilities.
• Maintains security systems including locks, doors, surveillance and alarms.
• Assists preventive maintenance programs for facilities and systems.
• Performs carpentry, plumbing, painting and HVAC tasks as needed.
• Supervises inmate trustees on work projects and reviews contracted work.
