Job summary

Delaware Department of Correction is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform advanced repair and preventative tasks on facility infrastructure including electrical, HVAC, plumbing and life safety systems.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, supervising a work crew of skilled and inmate staff, and maintaining thorough records. A Delaware Journeyperson or higher Electrician license or equivalent is required, plus a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Experience maintaining records and project documentation.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Six months experience in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
• Possession of a Delaware Journeyperson or higher Electrician license or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on building systems including electrical, HVAC and plumbing.
• Inspect, renovate and reconfigure spaces; draft layouts from plans to optimize space.
• Oversee inmate workforce and ensure security of tools and materials.
• Maintain logs of work, materials and time spent on assignments.
