Job summary

Ashland University Bookstore is seeking a Site Coordinator for Chillicothe Correctional Institution (Ohio) to provide administrative support to Correctional Education staff and students. The role reports to the designated Correctional Education State Director.

Qualifications

• Ability to use Learning Management System Software and productivity software such as MS Office.
• Possess basic computer skills with ability to troubleshoot issues.
• General understanding of academic environment.
• Ability to identify problems, suggest possible solutions and assist in resolution.
• Ability to multi-task, organize, communicate, and prioritize work through to completion with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of individuals, including AU faculty, administrators, incarcerated students, and correctional facility staff.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment DOC and AU background check.
• Ability to assist at other correctional facilities, as needed.
• Demonstrate professionalism, good judgement and ethical standards.
• Be physically present at the facility for 80% of the work week.
• Applicant must be currently authorized to work in the United States. Ashland University will not sponsor or take over sponsorship for an employment visa.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations at the assigned correctional facility and represent the university in collaboration with the State Department of Corrections (DOC).
• Act as the liaison between the facility staff, students, and Ashland University (AU).
• Identify, screen and recruit students in alignment with Ashland University and DOC criteria.
• Collaborate with the Student Success team assisting students with AU applications and ensuring access to courses.
• Support students in addressing issues related to access, including device outages, court appearances, transfers, or lockdowns.
• Collaborate with Financial Aid to assist FAFSA completion, aid counseling, documentation requests, and loan processes.
• Coordinate with Academic Services for proctoring, recording and uploading tests and assignments.
• Provide students with AU orientation and correctional education processes before the semester begins.
• Manage site inventory of devices, textbooks, and supplies with timely reports.
• Ensure materials for registered courses are available and distributed.
• Organize and conduct student activities and ensure compliance with policies.
