Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a Correctional Case Manager (S) to perform initial offender assessments, develop case plans, monitor compliance, and adjust plans to meet system objectives. You will oversee counseling, coordinate rehabilitation programs, and support re-entry efforts in a challenging custody environment.

Responsibilities include working across Close, Medium, and Minimum custody facilities, addressing offender needs, and occasionally covering evenings,

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
• Pass a criminal background check
• Produce a negative drug screening result
• Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
• Possess a valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Assessing offender behavior and developing counseling strategies to achieve desired offender progress.
• Answering offender questions, providing information about classification and sentencing status, and supporting families.
• Organizing and directing the activities of various rehabilitation programs for offenders.
• Conducting work release and home leave investigations, coordinating community resources, and planning re-entry prior to parole or release.
• Making recommendations to offender classification committees on program involvement or custody level changes.
• Working with offenders with varying problems, needs, and comprehension levels.
• Serving in a custody role during certain activities and working some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
