The role focuses on analyzing inmate needs, developing personalized PSD plans, and providing ongoing educational and social adjustment support to help residents progress toward successful reintegration.

The position requires a counseling-related degree and relevant experience, with a valid driver's license in MS or LA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in counseling or related field required
• One year related experience required
• Four years of correctional experience may be considered in lieu of education
• License or certification as required by governing state agency
• Valid driver's license in MS or LA with acceptable driving record

Responsabilités

• Review background files, conduct interviews and tests to analyze and recommend a program for each inmate
• Initiate and maintain PSD folders for each inmate
• Provide direct aid and counseling to inmates with personal needs or problems
• Provide continuous educational, vocational and social adjustment counseling
• Monitor progress and modify development programs as needed
• Coordinate staff training to improve guidance and social adjustment techniques
• Recommend medical or psychiatric evaluation when warranted
• Assist in evaluating facility services and propose improvements
• Promote positive social skills by modeling appropriate behaviors
• Maintain accountability of inmates and property; adhere to safety practices
• Maintain documentation and records
