GEO Corrections & Detentions in Louisiana seeks a dedicated counseling professional to support inmates and detainees, helping them adjust to facility life and access needed services.

You will design and implement programs within the facility to address individual needs, including one-on-one counseling and group sessions, while coordinating with staff to ensure timely and appropriate care for the inmate population.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, sociology, or a related field is preferred.
• One year of caseload management experience in a correctional setting is required.
• Certified law enforcement officer or detention experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interviews newly admitted inmates or detainees.
• Conducts facility orientation for new inmates or detainees explaining rules and services.
• Provides individual counseling to inmates on work, housing, adjustment, and family issues.
• Resolves day-to-day counseling problems and refers serious cases for professional staff.
• Assists inmates in obtaining needed services and represents them at classification meetings.
• Monitors custody, housing, jobs and programs to ensure timely reviews.
• Conducts visits to inmates in special housing.
• Reviews inmate medical status to determine eligibility for work assignments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
