The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction’s Division of Institutions seeks a Correctional Sergeant I to supervise shifts and maintain security at Sanford Correctional Center in Sanford, NC. Reporting to the Lieutenant, you will oversee post assignments, duty rosters, and logs to ensure policy compliance and safety.

The role requires eligibility for NC Criminal Justice Standards, background checks, drug screening, and a valid driver's license.

Formación

• Knowledge of facility operations.
• Knowledge of Prisons’ policy and procedures.
• Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Responsabilidades

• Supervising a shift of employees, conducting shift line-ups, making shift schedules, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
• Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, all required custody reports, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
• Reviewing all logs, reports, and required documentation from shift rotations.
• Accounting for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
• Handling activities relating to the custody and welfare of offenders.
• Conducting inspections of offender living areas, medical and kitchen areas, and the facility as a whole to identify possible safety hazards and to ensure operations are being followed by policy.
