Job summary

Adult Correction is seeking a Corrections Sergeant III to supervise officers and manage custody operations at a NC state facility. The role reports to the COO – OPS – Institutions Operations and oversees 24/7 staffing, post assignments, and welfare of male offenders in minimum to close custody.

Responsibilities include line-up, duty rosters, timekeeping, and ensuring equipment readiness while maintaining compliance with state policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of facility operations.
• Knowledge of Prisons’ policy and procedures.
• Must meet Criminal Justice Standards eligibility (12 NCAC 09G .0302).
• Pass criminal background check; negative drug screen.
• Medical and psychological evaluations completed.
• Valid driver’s license to be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Supervise subordinate officers and assign posts to ensure 24/7 staffing.
• Conduct shift line-up and inspect personnel for fitness to post.
• Maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, and evaluations.
• Account for persons and funds; ensure equipment readiness.
• Oversee custody and welfare of offenders across custody levels.
