State of North Carolina’s Adult Correction department seeks a Correctional Sergeant I (S) to supervise custody staff and ensure safety and security of offenders. The role requires enforcing facility procedures, scheduling shifts, and directing drills and emergencies.

Eligibility for NC Criminal Justice standards certification is required, along with background checks and drug screening. A full-time position with state benefits is offered.

Formación

• Must meet Criminal Justice Standards requirements (12 NCAC 09G .0302)
• Pass a criminal background check
• Produce a negative drug screening result
• Successfully complete medical and psychological evaluations
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission

Responsabilidades

• Overseeing officers’ activities and performance and ensuring custody, security and welfare of offenders
• Arranging work schedules to ensure shift coverage and ensure rules and procedures are followed
• Ensuring staff is fully trained and that proper conduct is followed
• Maintaining facility security through regular inspections and compliance with regulations
• Giving direction during drills, searches, and emergencies
• Leading staff in carrying out tactical assignments
• Responding to emergencies, searches for escaped offenders, and transports offenders
• Conducting and supervising searches of offenders and living/work areas for contraband
• Investigating security issues, incidents, disputes, and complaints
• Preparing and reviewing reports
• Completing annual performance evaluations and assisting in disciplinary processes
• Conducting staff briefing sessions
• Performing other related duties as required
