Job summary

The State of North Carolina Department of Adult Correction seeks a Correctional Sergeant I (S) at Gaston Correctional Center. You will supervise a shift of officers, oversee inmate welfare, and ensure compliance with facility policies.

Reporting to the Associate Warden, you’ll handle line-up, schedules, logs, and required custody documentation while rotating through duties to maintain security and safety of the facility.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required with two years of correctional officer experience or equivalent.
• Familiarity with prison policies and procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a shift of officers, conduct line-up, schedule posts, and assess staff readiness.
• Prepare and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave records, and custody-related forms.
