Job summary

The State of South Carolina's Department of Corrections seeks a Security Supervisor to direct the security staff and oversee inmate custody at a level two facility. Ensure security of buildings and public property while performing routine unit checks for safety and OSHA compliance.

On hire, complete eight weeks of SCDC Basic Training. A high school diploma with relevant experience is required, with a bachelor’s degree allowing substitution; three years of experience and supervisory

Qualifications

• High school diploma and relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and complete the basic supervisory course within six months.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and direct security staff actions.
• Oversee security, custody and control of inmates in a level two facility.
• Ensure security of buildings and public property; perform routine unit checks.
• Assist with inmate counts for accuracy; maintain cleanliness/OSHA standards.
• Investigate complaints and disputes among inmate population and staff.
• Note: position is assigned to the shock incarceration program.
