Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) required.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience in some cases.
• Criminal justice degree may substitute for part of required experience.
• Certification by SCDC Training Academy required and basic supervisory course within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Supervise subordinate security assigned to housing units and manage custody and control of inmates.
• Perform routine inspections of living areas for security, safety, and sanitation compliance.
• Investigate misconduct by inmates and staff in the area of responsibility.
• Assist in conducting counts and supervise staff performance, conduct, and appearance.

Education
