Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Corrections seeks Corrections Officers to ensure security and custody across state facilities. You will participate in an 8-week live-in academy in Oklahoma City, returning home on weekends, with field training before academy starts.

Lodging and meals are provided. Facility assignments depend on initial application and county preferences; candidates must be willing to work various shifts and undergo extensive training and testing for peace officer status.

Qualifications

• Maintains security and custody of inmates in a state adult facility.
• Conducts counts, searches and incident reports.
• Interprets and executes post orders and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provides security and supervision over inmate work crews and activities.
• Patrols yards, cells, and work areas to ensure order and safety.
• Operates security equipment and maintains controlled movement of inmates and staff.
• Documents inmate behavior and incidents in written reports.
• Participates in escape and riot response as needed.
