Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking Correctional Security Officers to maintain security and custody in state correctional facilities across Oklahoma. Selected applicants will attend an 8-week live-in academy in Oklahoma City from Sunday 6:00 PM through Thursday 6:00 PM and then return home on weekends.

Lodging and meals are provided; academy starts October 12, 2026, with facility assignments based on applicant preferences.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 20 years.
• 30 semester hours from college or university or GED/high school diploma with approved training.
• Must pass pre-employment tests, annual physical, and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide security and supervision to inmates and post security.
• Escort inmates to work sites and manage equipment, weapons, and keys.
• Patrol yards, cells, corridors, and other areas to monitor inmate behavior.
• Maintain order and discipline; inspect living areas for contraband; report incidents.
• Prepare written documentation and reports on inmate behavior and movements.
• Respond to riots, fires, and other emergencies; participate in escape and apprehension teams.
