Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Corrections is recruiting for Correctional Security Officers across the state. Selected candidates will attend an 8-week live-in academy in Oklahoma City from Sunday 6:00 PM to Thursday 6:00 PM, with lodging and meals provided. Assignments are at various facilities across Oklahoma; academy starts on October 12, 2026.

Applicants must be willing to travel and work any shift. Initial training includes field supervision by a Field Training Officer until the academy begins;

Qualifications

• Minimum age 20 years.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment screening and drug testing.
• Willing to work any shift or day as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide security and supervision to inmates; maintain order at assigned post.
• Escort inmates to work sites; inventory and control equipment, weapons, keys.
• Patrol yards, cells, corridors, and work areas; observe inmate movements and conduct.
• Prepare reports on incidents and inmate behavior; respond to emergencies.
• Operate security equipment and manage controlled movement of people.
• Conduct inmate counts and searches for contraband; enforce rules and regulations.
• Assist in discipline and manage inmate populations as directed.

Education

30 college hours or HS diploma/GED
