Job summary

State of Oklahoma Department of Corrections is recruiting for Correctional Security Officers for multiple positions across Oklahoma. Applicants must attend an 8-week live-in academy in Oklahoma City from Sunday 6:00 PM through Thursday 6:00 PM and return home on weekends. They will work at their selected facility with a Field Training Officer until the academy begins.

Academy Start Date: October 12, 2026. Lodging and meals are provided.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED or equivalent with post-education requirements.
• 30 college hours or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
• Pre-employment and annual physicals as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide security and supervision to inmates in various situations and posts.
• Escort inmates to work sites and manage equipment, weapons, tools, and keys.
• Patrol yards, cells, corridors, and work areas; monitor inmate activity and discipline.
• Maintain order in programs, meals and recreation; inspect living areas for contraband.
• Operate security equipment and control movement of inmates, staff and the public.
• Prepare written reports on inmate behavior, status, and movements.
• Participate in escape and apprehension teams and respond to riots and fires.
