Job summary

Health Advocates Network, Inc. in Downey, CA is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team and deliver compassionate care in a juvenile correctional setting.

The position offers 8-hour shifts (40 hours per week) with Day and Evening options. Local pay is $52.65/hour on a W2 basis, and responsibilities include assessments, care planning, medication administration, and EMR documentation.

Qualifications

• CA license required in good standing.
• Minimum of 1 year experience as a Correctional Registered Nurse.
• Experience with juvenile inmate patients preferred.
• Comfort in a locked forensic environment with law enforcement exposure.
• BLS/ACLS/PALS, NIHSS certifications.
• MAB or CPI, LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City).
• LA County Employee Health Clearance prior to start date.
• Primary Source Verification from licensing board if required.
• Current certifications and compliance documents (BLS, N95 fit test, immunizations, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Care for juvenile inmate patients in a locked forensic setting.
• Assess health conditions and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor progress and document assessments and outcomes in EMR.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care.
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Respond to changes in patient condition and medical emergencies.
• Perform wound care, IV therapy, and other procedures within scope.
• Maintain infection control standards and facility policies.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care focused on safety and quality.
