Job summary

San Luis Regional Detention & Support Center is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to provide essential health care within the facility. The role includes assessing patients, coordinating care with medical and correctional staff, and implementing care plans under physician orders.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Licensed as a registered nurse in the practicing state.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Prefer a minimum of two years clinical experience.
• Good physical and mental health; able to work under pressure; able to relate well to patients, security staff, visitors and co-workers.

Responsibilities

• Assess physical, psychological, and social dimensions of patients within the health care unit.
• Obtain health history and assist in assessment process.
• Provide a written assessment on admission, during confinement, and on discharge.
• Summarize assessment data and make triage decisions documented to other care providers.
• Plan an individual treatment program and follow physician orders.
• Administer medications as ordered and use proper techniques including IV therapy.
• Follow established policies for clinical and technical care.
• Consult with nurses, physicians, correctional officers, and other staff as needed.
• Respect patient dignity and confidentiality.
