Job description

Reporting to and working closely with the Correctional Captain III, this position provides supervision for subordinate staff regarding their assigned tasks with male offenders in a Minimum/Medium/Close custody state correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Providing supervision for subordinate staff, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
2. Conducting investigations and performing searches of persons, places, and objects.
3. Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty roster, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
4. Performing security inspections of the facility and grounds, monitoring posts to ensure officers are alert, discipline is maintained, and assignments are properly carried out.
5. Performing rescue functions including CPR, basic first aid, physically removing people from dangerous areas, and using fire-fighting equipment such as hoses, extinguishers, and breathing apparatuses.
6. Identifying training needs and coordinating training delivery to subordinate staff.
7. Accounting for persons and funds, and ensuring all equipment is operationally ready.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.
