Join the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction as a full-time Assistant Shift Supervisor at Foothills Correctional. This role involves supervising personnel, ensuring inmate welfare, and managing facility operations. Ideal candidates will have supervisory experience and knowledge of prison policies. This position is located at Foothills Correctional in Burke County, NC. Foothills Correctional is a Close/minimum custody male facility. Work in this class involves assisting in planning, supervising, and coordinating activities in a close-custody institution. Employees supervise Correctional Sergeant III’s and may serve as the Officer-in-Charge in absence of the Captain. Employees assist in planning and supervising personnel actions, administrative affairs, officers’ work schedules and coordinating activities involving discipline, security, and the welfare of the inmate population. Employees’ responsibilities are primarily custodial in nature serving as an assistant shift supervisor because of the large staffing structure. This level is distinguished from Correctional Lieutenant II based on increased staffing totals, supervision for the most dangerous and non-compliant inmates, larger inmate population totals and the complexity of the facility operation which generally includes restrictive and controlled housing. Employees typically report to a Correctional Captain III.

The salary grade for this position is NC011. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
***As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state's pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $43,738 - $76,542. ***
