The primary purpose of the Security Risk Group (SRG) Lieutenant for the facility is to manage the day-to-day functions related to the Security Risk Group (SRG) population and serve as the lead for the facility in working with SRG intel. Additionally, this position reports to the Associate Warden of Operations at a medium custody male correctional facility and the job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Overseeing, supervising, and providing guidance for the Intelligence Team to include the Security Risk Group Intelligence Officer (SRGIO) in SRG related issues/incidents at the facility level.
  2. Maintaining a source of accumulative information regarding any activities or persons that may pose a risk to the general public, staff, offenders, or the orderly operation of a prison facility.
  3. Providing security, supervision and gathering of intelligence for potential incidents involving gang activity and related data.
  4. Overseeing the investigation process for SRG-related issues/incidents at the facility level.
  5. Monitoring trends, tracking the validation process, and tracking progress of all SRG programs.
  6. Serving as liaison to the Division of Institutions at the facility level.
  7. Interacting on a daily basis with facility staff and leadership regarding all SRG matters.
  8. Serving as the primary resource and subject matter expert for all facility staff by providing oversight and guidance in the performance of SRG duties.
  9. Completing required reports, i.e. SRG Reports, Disciplinary Reports, Incident Reports, Use of Force Reports, Accident Reports, etc. within designated time frame per NCDAC Policy and Procedures & Facility Standard Operating Procedures.
  10. Ensuring offenders are moved throughout the institution in a safe, secure and orderly manner.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business needs.

As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $43,738 - $76,542. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do not need to reapply.

Note to Current State Employees:

The salary grade for this position is NC11 (Salary Range: $43,738 - $76,542). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Warren Correctional Institution:

Warren Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Manson, NC which houses approximately 725 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to one Correction Enterprises operation located off site: The Janitorial Product Plant manufactures a variety of cleaning products, soap, and plastic bags that are sold to various agencies/companies.

The Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. (We will not review resumes in lieu of Experience and Education listed on the application.)

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  1. Documented experience of the methods and procedures of discipline and rehabilitation of offenders confined to a correctional facility.
  2. Documented knowledgeable in emergency response procedures.
  3. Documented knowledge and/or experience working with Security Risk Group (SRG) populations and intel.

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience as a Correctional Sergeant, or two years of experience as a Correctional Sergeant III; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
