Job summary

NaphCare, Inc. seeks a Mental Health Registered Nurse to join our team at Mt. Meigs, Alabama, providing care to incarcerated individuals in the Alabama Department of Corrections Kilby Facility.

You will perform health screenings, monitor vital signs, develop care plans, manage chronic conditions, and respond to emergencies in a secure, controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state.
• Active BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
• Knowledge of nursing practice principles and safety standards.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Flexible schedule and overtime availability.
• Ability to interact effectively with diverse patients, including those with mental health or substance use issues.
• Pass facility background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals.
• Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs and medical histories.
• Providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services.
• Managing acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, hypertension, and diabetes.
• Responding to medical emergencies and ensuring timely transport to facilities.
• Educating patients on preventative care and healthy lifestyle choices.
